BEYOND WORSHIP
Disciple Bible Study
Bible Study Aimed at Transformation
- Not Just Information
Underlying the development of
DISCIPLE
is the assumption that people are hungry for the Word of God, for fellowship in prayer
and study, and for a sense of appropriate ministry as baptized, believing,
committed Christians.
- DISCIPLE assumes that the Bible is the key to renewal in the church.
- DISCIPLE recognizes the divine-human nature of the Bible. The actual texts
of Holy Scripture were written by human beings, like us, in their cultural
settings, under the divine inspiration of God.
- DISCIPLE gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the
wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God.
- DISCIPLE aims at transformation, not just information.
- DISCIPLE calls us to submit ourselves to examination by Holy Scripture, to put
ourselves under the power of God's Word, and to be changed by God's Word.
- DISCIPLE invites us to bring our experiences and struggles to Holy Scripture.
All of us know something is amiss with our existence and yearn for word from God.
This study limits each group to twelve persons plus the leader(s).
DISCIPLE requires commitment in terms of preparation, presence, and
participation for all involved. The DISCIPLE leaders are chosen by Dr.
Jim Howell and attend a three-day regional training seminar. They
will spend 3.5 to 4 hours of independent study each week in preparation for
the weekly study sessions. Their commitment includes attendance at, guidance
of, and participation in an orientation session and all 34 of the 2.5-hour
weekly study sessions.
The group members' commitment will include:
- 3 to 4 hours of independent study each week (at least 30 minutes daily) in
preparation for the weekly study session.
- Attendance at and participation in an orientation session and all 34 of
the weekly study sessions.
- Those who complete the course, having attended at least 30 of the sessions,
and prepared for all, will be awarded a certificate of recognition and a DISCIPLE
lapel pin.
DISCIPLE is based on the model of Jesus Christ
and the Twelve Disciples. The participants form a small study group of twelve
who share a personal spiritual commitment, come with open minds, a hunger for
Holy Scripture and who desire to become leaders in the church.

Do you enjoy a casual style of worship?
If you prefer an informal worship experience, join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM in the Mary Hogan Fellowship Hall
for our Contemporary Worship Service.” We dress casually, we sit at tables and drink coffee during the
worship service, but there is nothing casual about the sincerity of our desire to praise and worship our Creator!
Our Grace Church Worship Band (consisting of vocals, drums, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars and keyboard)
leads the congregation with upbeat praise songs. The messages by Dr. Jim Howell
are always Bible based with practical applications and teachings of His word for His people. Come join us for an amazing
worship experience!
