STAFF DIRECTORY Dr. John A. Beyers, Senior Minister
In 1990 he was graduated from Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia with the Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Biblical languages and Methodist and Wesleyan theology. There he was co-founder of The Candler Evangelical Society. In 1996 he pursued additional graduate studies at The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee and, in 1998, was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree honoris causa from Piedmont College, Demorest, Georgia. One of Dr. Beyers' greatest passions is reaching unchurched persons for Jesus Christ through evangelical outreach ministries, including Insight from Grace, which aired on WNNX "99X" FM from December 1998 until September 2003. He is continuously seeking new ways to reach this unique demographic group and introduce them to the love and life of Jesus Christ. In 2002 he was inducted into The Order of St. Luke, a religious order with The United Methodist Church dedicated to sacramental and liturgical scholarship, education, and practice. Since 2001, Dr. Beyers has taught on the faculty of the North Georgia Conference License for Pastoral Ministry School. Dr. Beyers has served on the North Georgia Board of Witness and Worship, the Atlanta-Emory District Board of Ordained Ministry and the Atlanta-Emory District Council on Ministries. He is also a member of the Atlanta Chapter of The American Guild of Organists. Dr. Beyers' personal interests include international travel, the life, thought and theology of John Wesley, Anglo-Methodist sacramental theology and worship, the music of the pipe organ and spending time with his dog, Puppy. |
